Analytical vials and closures, such as those of 2ml capacity, are laboratory consumables that hold liquid samples for analysis using HPLC, GC, and LC-MS devices. The sample is held in the vial, while the cap, septum, or crimp is used to seal the vial so as to avoid any leakage, evaporation, or contamination. Samples are then automatically drawn from the septum by autosamplers. They are extensively used in pharmaceutical, chemical, environmental, and food testing laboratories, among others, to aid sample preparation, handling, and injection.
